Galerie Lætitia Gorsy - She BAM! is pleased to present the exhibition of Laura Sachs ‘RELATED CONTENT’. Laura Sachs’ (b. 1985, Darmstadt) works are located at an interface between painting and object and exemplify the interaction of material such as color. Among other things, the artist creates assemblages by exploring the possibilities of the pictorial surface and questioning the supposed boundaries of the image. In her working method, Laura Sachs constructs the formal conditions as a constitutive whole, whereby further questions arise about the fundamental components and the specific material properties. For this purpose, the artist not only works with the frontal view surfaces of the canvases, but also makes use of the sides, edges, and backs. On these, for example, she processes oil paint as well as fabric, wood, metal strips, dust, and paint particles from her studio within a kind of print-through process. The latter thus relate directly to the explicit creative process and once again embody her personal, innovative signature in the work itself.

The simultaneously constituted rejection of perfection in the conventional sense results from her fundamental idea that it does not exist in the human, artistic creative process, which is why she constantly renegotiates the question of the same. Nevertheless, her unique pieces are subject to the claim of a consciousness-expanding, aesthetic experience, within which, in demarcation from Minimal Art, the work steps and machine-generated components are included. Inspired by architecture and the formal design levels of fashion, design and nature, Laura Sachs creates her own interpretation of aesthetics. In doing so, the artist refers in a special extension to the American Minimal Art of the 1960s, which is characterized by reduction and geometric forms, and the diametrically developed Postminimalism, which prioritizes spatial awareness and the importance of the subjective viewer.
