My work shows a sensitive and sensual perception, transposed by color and gesture. Paintings, photographs, films, and objects are the plural forms of the expression of this relation to the world. Through the variations of materials and media, I seek the continuity of a universe. Painting remains mainline. The other mediums are engaged as satellite events, in a desire to open my practice of painter and nourish as much as they extend it.

The paintings are ordered at first sight according to the absence or the presence of signs. Emptiness, disappearance, surge - rather than abstraction versus figuration. If the colored gradations first suggest airspaces, they also oppose their artificiality, their nature as an artifact. The void here is full of color, in tension with the density of the layers, the intensity of the saturation. This ambivalence is inherent in the pictorial process itself. Custodian of my successive gestures, the painted surface delivers them erased by their own repetition; the colors are dissolved, absorb the trace of the passage of the hand. Seeking to escape, I see the impossibility of achieving it: imperfection, however discreet it is, always reveals the process. I recognize a fair expression of my quest and the prospect of extending my work. Contrary to the erasure, I call the gesture to manifest itself openly. Painted then crumpled and reworked by the glaze, the canvas reveals a negative painting, random, a frame by subtraction. The use of mortars declines my research around the materiality of color, revealing a palpable, earthly reality. Sand is one of my favorite materials. By its specificity, it refers us to the notions of tangible and intangible, of disappearance, of elusiveness. It also allows me to invoke a maritime, solar, Mediterranean, seaside, which is close to me and which is at the source of my inspiration.

Whether virgin or populated with signs, my paintings are always landscapes, windows to a familiar place. Film and photography have originated here as a diarist, lonely walker, and collector of images, blogger incognito. The virtual wall is apprehended as a place to invest, in direct echo to that of the atelier. Faced with video screens and the photographic image, painting comes as a counterpoint and an extension of a narrative. It’s about making a space exist, by color and by the gesture. It’s about creating a universe, that I want as immersive for the viewer as it is for me the perception of the world around me.
