Dorothée Louise Recker’s work is intimately linked to her origins and to the Mediterranean landscapes of her early years. Through an abstract approach to painting, the artist wishes to bring back to life these panoramas that are close to her heart, to express their very substance - to capture the color, the light, the touch - a sensory atmosphere translated into painting. The vibration that emanates from her large colored compositions echoes the way in which these places are kept in her memory and her imaginary world, the sensations that still live in her and move her. The memory of the senses is also (and always) emotional. The painted canvas is the medium through which it can express itself.

Dorothée Louise Recker is driven by a deep love of light and color, and a strong belief in their magical and healing nature. Throughout the series she has created she always wanted to capture and immerse the eye in her paintings, as shown in the celestial evanescences and aerial vibratos of her soft chromatic gradations. Her stroke is sometimes subdued, retained, controlled, some other time assertive, scattered, random. The fatness, the grain, the folds and drapes: by varying materials and supports, she seeks the continuity of a universe, which she wishes to be as immersive for the viewer as is for her the perception of the world around her.

‘Kissing The Shore’ uses the simplified form of waves, deploying a colored spectrum across sinusoidal waves. The regularity of the motif follows the rhythm of the natural phenomenon, accompanying that of the painter’s gesture, fluid and regular. The eye is compelled to follow the hand and to dive into the wave, following its curves like a horizon line. But the horizon here is the shore, the beachfront, as the title of the exhibition suggests. The use of sand modifies the color through its materiality. However, inside the summer and seaside imaginary world, that is so dear to the artist, it refers by its very nature to the transient, the intangible. While seducing by its tactile attraction, the process puts color at a distance. Veiled, literally stiffed, it is made diffuse and unfathomable for those who contemplate it. The part of the mystery that Dorothée Louise Recker lends it becomes all the more perceptible.
