Chloé PiotTabula Smaragdina

Chloé Piot transforms industrial objects and materials through a deliberately chaotic movement between drawing, model, experiment and solution. She develops precise and colourful assemblages that establish new connections, creates strange and humorous associations between things and concepts. Chloé Piot not only plays with colours and shapes but also with our memories and collective memory. Her sculptures compose a colourful world, full of happy and hyper-real objects, hiding tricks and illusions.

Chloé Piot was born in 1986, in Marseille. She graduated from the National Art School of Limoges in 2009. In 2012, she continued her studies at the Art School of Braunschweig with a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) grant. From 2015 to 2017, she was a master student in the class of Prof. Alba d'Urbano at the Academy of Visual Arts (HGB) in Leipzig. Chloé Piot has participated in numerous exhibitions and residencies in France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands: 2018, Mode d’emploi at the FRAC Poitou-Charentes and L’Esprit de notre temps at the FRAC Limousin; 2015, 2.5.0. Object is Meditation and Poetry at the Grassi Museum in Leipzig; 2013, Progress in Work at the Galerie LAC&S Lavitrine, Limoges and at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao; 2010, Het Waalkens Project as part of the Euro Land Art festival in the Netherlands. In 2018 she presented her first solo exhibition in Germany entitled A Kind of Magic at the Kunstverein Wolfenbüttel. In 2019, she publishes her first bilingual artist catalogue. Her works are part of the collection of the FRAC Limousin, the Artothèque du Haut-Poitou, the Kunsthaus Addaya and private collections.
