Johanna Seidel

Johanna Seidel is a painter based in Dresden. Her work explores the porous boundaries between memory, dreams and lived experience. Drawing on literary references, mythology and personal observation, Seidel creates painterly narratives in which intimate moments are infused with a subtle sense of ambiguity. Her figures often appear absorbed in contemplation, surrounded by symbolic objects, reflections and traces of untold stories.

Characterised by a sensitive handling of light and atmosphere, Seidel’s paintings transform interiors, gardens and nocturnal landscapes into spaces where reality and imagination intertwine. Through layered compositions and a luminous yet restrained palette, she constructs images that feel at once familiar and enigmatic, inviting viewers into a world suspended between presence and recollection.
